Career orientation and choosing the US colleges.
US colleges use major/minor system.

Major is a primary concentration of a student in a certain field of study. To get a major one needs to accumulate required amount of credits.

Minor is a secondary field of study. It is obtained in a similar manner, but with fewer credits.

In the US colleges it is most common to choose a major and a minor. They are independent and does not have to be related. Both will be mentioned in the diploma.

One of the advantages of the US college education is that major and minor can be chosen (or changed) after enrollment. This flexible approach provides excellent opportunity for college students to self-discovery.

However, it is still recommended to apply to the highly selective US colleges with declared major.

In my work, I devote significant attention and time helping the student analyzing potential majors. The process is based on in-depth interviews using various aptitude tests. even being focused primarily on the student, it also involves other family members.

This approach helps the student to identify potential majors well ahead of time and also define expectations of the entire family.
